Reminds me of my brother, he was in Baghdad on a reconnaissance mission and one day, during a switchover, before the second unit took over, an unexpected dozie spotted them and reported it. Then within an hour the Jihadis arrived with no less than 6 vehicles. My brother said they did not engage because they weren't sure if they knew their position or if it was just by chance that maybe they happened to designate that same spot as a rendezvous. Well, it was a rendezvous. The second truck let it go and fired at their general area which let them know that their cover was blown. To make a long story short - this resulted in a 6 day evade-capture. They let their guard down just 30 miles from the border, letting a woman who approach them to "give them ice cold water". They ordered her to leaving it where she was (my brother said this was about 30 ft away), but she did not understand or pretended not to understand. In that situation, the next instruction would be to Fire one warning shot and then two quick shots to her chest if she chose to ignore it. Unfortunately, emotion got the best of them and no one fired even one warning shot. They allowed her to approach close enough and she blew herself up.. My brother lost hearing in his right ear and one of his fellow Marines lost both his legs. My brother (and his entire unit) were very lucky.
