Also, Exorcisms dont work because the religion is a bastardized version of older more honest religions. The "demons" cant be exorcised based off of a faith that has no sovereign over them. But to my first point, they are MAINLY ineffective because the people doing them dont even KNOW that it's a form of magic/sorcery.
